The BA role is changing. Organisations expect faster insights, sharper requirements work, and a BA who can navigate complex change initiatives at a time when AI is reshaping how we analyse, structure, and deliver. Mastering the method is no longer enough. You need to be able to apply it.

Business Analysis in Practice is Biner's most hands-on BA course. It's built on BABOK®, the international standard for business analysis, and on our experience from hundreds of change assignments in complex organisations. The result is a course where theory and practice connect, and where you leave with skills you can put to work straight away.

A Course for the Business Analysts of Tomorrow

Grounded in international standard. Built for the real world.

BABOK® is the foundation, the most widely adopted and recognised international standard for business analysis. But a standard is only worth something if you can put it into practice. The course is designed to bridge that gap: every module combines theoretical grounding with exercises drawn from real change situations.

Throughout the course, we work with both delivery contexts a BA encounters in practice:

- Predictive (plan-driven): structure, governance, control and traceability

- Adaptive (agile): flexibility, iteration logic and continuous requirements elicitation

You will learn how the same responsibilities and techniques take different shape depending on context, risk level and uncertainty, and how to navigate the tensions between them.

Instructors who work in the field

The course is led by senior consultants and business analysts from Biner with extensive experience from complex change assignments at the intersection of business and IT. They work daily in the roles and situations the course covers.

That means you get more than theory. You get the judgement calls and insights that actually drive successful BA work in practice. Our instructors know what it takes when organisation, technology and people meet, because that is exactly the environment they work in every day.

AI integrated throughout the workflow

The course covers the full workflow a BA is responsible for in a change initiative, from needs analysis and strategy analysis to solution definition, change management and value tracking.

In this updated version of the course, AI is integrated into the exercises throughout the entire workflow. You practise using AI as a support in analysis work for faster pattern recognition, better coverage in requirements elicitation and more efficient requirements review. And you practise just as much on knowing when your professional judgement is the only thing that counts.

You leave the course with a complete picture of the BA role today and the concrete skills you need to deliver on it.

From theory to practical maturity

The course is built around a coherent, true-to-life case, designed specifically to create real trade-offs with no given answers. Speed versus control. Autonomy versus governance. Existing process versus new AI logic.

Over three intensive days, you complete around 20 exercises in small groups, with instructor feedback on both approach and solution alternatives. You practise, among other things:

- Identifying and analysing needs in complex organisational contexts.
- Structuring requirements and solution proposals in both adaptive and plan-driven environments.
- Using AI as a support in analysis work and critically reviewing AI-generated material.
- Assessing organisational readiness for AI adoption and planning stakeholder alignment.
- Measuring and tracking value with KPIs linked to actual business impact

The focus is on analysis, reasoning and accountability, just as it is in real life.

International and future-proof certification

The course is accredited by IIBA® and gives you the training hours required for international certification. BABOK® is the foundation, the recognised global standard in business analysis. The course qualifies you for:

- ECBA, Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (21h+).
- CCBA, Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (21h+)
- CBAP, Certified Business Analysis Professional (35h+)

Biner is an IIBA®-accredited training provider. During the course we walk through the requirements for each certification level and give you concrete guidance on next steps.

What will I learn?

The course covers the full workflow a BA is responsible for in a change initiative. BABOK® provides the theoretical foundation and in every module we work with both perspectives (plan-driven and adaptive). AI is integrated throughout the exercises. The course is built around a coherent, true-to-life case and around 20 group exercises with instructor feedback.
