Applying the Scrum Master Role within a SAFe Enterprise

Gain the skills needed to build high-performing teams and learn how to support and facilitate team and ART events by becoming a SAFe Scrum Master (SSM). As of 2026, the course is updated according to the latest SAFe release and now also includes practical AI components that support the Scrum Master role in daily work.

During this two-day course, you will gain a deep understanding of the Scrum Master role in a SAFe organization. Unlike traditional Scrum Master training that focuses primarily on the team level, the SAFe Scrum Master course explores the role in an organizational context that spans the entire enterprise. The course also teaches you how to prepare for and successfully plan and execute PI Planning, a key event in organizations implementing SAFe.

The course also includes an updated section on how AI can be used responsibly to support facilitation, identify improvement patterns, analyze impediments and strengthen continuous improvement, without replacing the human leadership required in the role.

What is SAFe®?

Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) will help you and your company with the challenges around developing and releasing products and systems in a bigger scale and with shorter lead time than using the traditional waterfall method.

You will be able to synchronize and adapt the deliverables for several teams at the same time. As SAFe is configurable and scalable you can select the level of implementation based on your business size and needs. SAFe supports everything from a delivery organization with 50-125 users to large scale corporations, handling complex system solutions with thousands of people involved.

In SAFe you will find the roles, responsibilities, artefacts, and events that are necessary to execute an upscaled Lean-Agile product delivery.

You can read more about SAFe here: What is SAFe?

The trainer’s genuine passion and solid real-world experience in the subject were clearly evident throughout the course. It gave me even more than I had expected.
Markus Täljedal, Bokusgruppen

Improved result of system development

SAFe way of working is well established and has evolved through practice and refinement to achieve a comprehensive way to develop complex systems and software in a Lean-Agile way. The foundation of the framework has three primary sources of knowledge: Agile development, System thinking and Lean product development.

You will find guidance using SAFe for these kinds of questions:

  • How can we as a company reach our technical and business goals?
  • How can we improve our economical result through better decisions?
  • How can we continuously deliver customer value through our organization by letting them plan and execute?
  • How do we improve our customer’s satisfaction by improving the quality of our solution?
  • How will we implement the Lean-Agile Way-of-Working throughout our whole organization, from business units to the single team, to improve the customer value we deliver?
  • How can Value Streams help us deliver in a structured and efficient way without the delays that normally occurs in organizations burdened by bureaucracy and strict hierarchy?
  • How can we minimize and handle dependencies between teams, programs, and Value Streams?
  • How do we create a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and relentless improvement?
  • How can we keep people motivated in what they are doing?
  • What changes do we need to do to promote risk taking, tolerate failures, and encourage lessons learned?
  • How can encourage the teams to enforce continuous improvement?
  • How do we know what our agile teams are up to? Can we measure their efficiency?

By implementing SAFe and utilize its set of values, principles and practices, you can handle questions like these above and reach great benefit for the company, the teams and for you as well!

“Having a clear methodology and training in place has been very helpful when hiring people. Being able to tell candidates that we take Agile principles seriously—by mentioning that we have trained and certified Product Owners and Scrum Masters, and that we follow a clear Agile path—definitely makes a difference.”
Walter Bauer CTO, censhare
